Mankato, MN – Jones Metal spent Earth Day 2024 filling two dumpsters with scrap metal and collecting bikes from the businesses and the community to benefit Key City Bike—whose mission is to reduce environmental impact by keeping bikes out of the landfill. Proceeds from the metal recycling were matched by the event co-sponsor, Alter Trading, for a total donation of $874. Other local business also supported the event. Schmidt Siding & Window donated a full trailer of scrap metal to the recycling effort. The presentation of the donation checks to Key City Bike highlighted the collaborative spirit of the event.
“It was amazing to see the Greater Mankato community come out to fill our dumpsters with metal scraps and bikes they were ready to pass on,” said Jones Metal Visionary/CEO Sarah Richards. “We take recycling and eco practices seriously every day in our facility and want to encourage metal recycling in our community. Scrap4Kids has been a concept in my head for a long time and we decided Earth Day was a perfect time to launch.”
The recycling and bike drive is just one way Jones Metal supports sustainable practices in the community and at their manufacturing campus. You can learn more about their commitment to our environment at https://jonesmetalinc.com/jones-metals-commitment-to-eco-friendly-manufacturing-practices/
